SheLeadsTech commissioned the Tech Workforce 2020: The Age and Gender Perception Gap research study to discover why employees stay in their roles, why employees burnout, why employees seek new employers, why women are underrepresented and if programs exist to remedy that disparity, and what organizations can do to increase retention among their tech teams overall. Interestingly, age seems to play a stronger role than gender in perception gaps, but while both men and women believe gender disparities exist, their opinions on why they do still slightly differ:

More than 60 women and men gathered on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, USA, on 7 October for the SheLeadsTech’s 2nd annual Day of Advocacy. Deidre Melton, CISA, CRISC, CISM, CFE, CIA, serves as an assurance, risk assessor, investigator and advisory professional specializing in IT and cybersecurity at Florida A&M University (USA). Her early experience is in educational and local/state government audits for the State of Florida Auditor General’s Office. In February, 2019, the City Tech Collaborative (City Tech), AnitaB.org, and SheLeadsTech announced a new training pilot to help close the gap for women entering the cybersecurity field. The grant for the pilot program provided funding and partnership opportunities for the organizations to provide 19 women in Chicago, Illinois, USA, with cybersecurity training. These participants underwent 8 weeks of in-classroom training utilizing ISACA’s Cybersecurity Nexus Training Platform.
